The Emigrants

Adapted from Vilhelm Moberg’s epic trilogy of exile and new beginnings, The Emigrants tells the true story of the 19th century rural poor who leave the grinding poverty of provincial Sweden for dreams of a new beginning in the US.

Often ending up in places as tough as the ones they had left, they nevertheless discover in the epic journey itself new resources within themselves with which to realise their dream.
