Family Secrets

Family Secrets

It is the fall of ‘78 in a small town in central Sweden.

Tennis star Björn Borg is a national hero and nuclear power is a hot topic. There has also been some worrying news about Punks coming from England.

Meanwhile, we meet the Bendricks. They are a middle class family including Bosse, Mona and their three children Ola (17), Katta (15) and Morgan (12). They live in the house built by Bosse; they own two cars and a little powerboat on a lake near by. All is in order on the surface.

But take a closer look and you will see how everything is on the verge of falling apart – just like Bosse’s jerrybuilt house. In fact, each member of the family has his own ‘secret’ life outside their home. A life unknown to the others and unspoken so that the fragile ‘happiness’ does not collapse.

Mom meets an old boyfriend and their love is rekindled. Dad does not want mom to know that their home is on the verge of falling apart. Ola finds himself in the middle of the darkest side of puberty and Katta falls in love for the first time and becomes aware of her sexual being.

At the end, it only takes a bit more pressure to split everything apart. And ironically its Morgan, the youngest, who sees the catastrophe coming. Yet, he also sees the pieces falling into place again, as it is only then that there is a chance to stand up and move on…
