Åsa-Nisse

The sly yokel Åsa-Nisse is one of the most popular characters in Swedish film history.

The Åsa-Nisse character starred in twenty films, produced between 1949-1969. Conflict between big city scoundrels and the country bumpkins of tiny Knohult who are armed only with their common sense is the recurring theme of the films.

Åsa-Nisse’s fantastic inventions also play an integral role in the plots. In these four films, cunning Åsa-Nisse appears in several roles such as a hockey manager, a pop promoter, a rocket scientist, a secret agent, and a race boat driver.
