Lasse Hallström

Lasse Hallström was drawn to filmmaking even as a small child. Starting with 8mm and working his way from 16mm to 35mm, Hallström never strayed from his boyhood delight with film. Hallström usually works on his own scripts and tends towards engaging, comic stories revolving around childhood and the trials and tribulations of growing up.

Hallström's MY LIFE AS A DOG (1985) brought him international acclaim and led to his first American film project. Later, WHAT'S EATING GILBERT GRAPE (1993)
