Jan Troell

Best known as the director of THE EMIGRANTS (1971) and THE NEW LAND (1972), Jan Troell (born in 1931) grew up in Limhamn, near Malmö in southern Sweden. Teaming up with Bo Widerberg to make the short, THE BOY AND THE DRAGON, Troell also shot Widerberg's first feature, THE PRAM in 1962. TROELL'S THIS IS YOUR LIFE (1966), based on Nobel Prize winner Eyvind Johnson's autobiographical “The Story of Olof”, is remembered as one of the best Swedish films ever.
